Take Action - what's your next step?

During the winter of 2015 - 16, the Shelter gave homeless individuals a warm, safe place to be sheltered from the freezing cold 128 times. They depend on all of us, and we depend entirely upon volunteers to keep the cold weather shelter open.

The Cold Weather Shelter is made possible through the Monroe Cold Weather Alliance. The Alliance coordinates trainings and scheduling of volunteers. Take the Next Step is the fiscal agent for the Alliance.

You can help:

  • Join a volunteer team to staff the shelter - we usually have two teams each night
  • Set up and take down cots, bedding, and supplies
  • Learn more about becoming a Cold Weather Shelter Volunteer INFORMATION HERE >

Our shelter volunteers receive training through the Snohomish County Medical Reserve Corps. Training takes about two hours. Upon completion, volunteers are certified and are covered by Medical Reserve Corp insurance while working in the shelter.
