Next STep cares and is careful…

We work very hard to be good stewards of your donations and to be transparent in all we do. That earns us Candid’s (formerly Guidestar) Gold Seal for transparency and accountability. Click the seal to discover more about what it takes, and what it means, to earn Candid’s Gold Seal.

Please see our most recent financial statements below for the most recent financial information. Guidestar relies upon the IRS to deliver our 990 Reports (equivalent to a nonprofit’s tax return). At the end of 2022, the IRS was half a millions returns behind.

2020 Annual Report

As 2020 began, none of us could imagine what awaited our families, our work, our organizations, and our daily lives.

As the Coronavirus pandemic worsened in the spring, so many people lost their jobs. Families suffered the impacts and so did nonprofits. Our donations dried up. We wondered if we would be able to survive as an organization.

In late March, we received an unexpected $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Snohomish County. The grant was unrestricted - we could use it in whatever way we thought best.

Our Board approved passing along the entire $25,000 grant amount to families in need and that became our approach to our finances through the time of the pandemic - to not hold tightly to our resources when others are in need.

Our donors came back and many new donors came, too. And, the grants kept coming…

Through the time of the pandemic in 2020, we passed along over $280,000 in financial assistance to families in our community and we’re not done yet!

2017 Annual Report

After 12 years of relying on volunteer leadership we hired our first paid Executive Director in 2017.

We're still a lean organization with now, seven staff - six part time and our full time Executive Director brings us up to barely four full time equivalent staff. We work hard to be good stewards of your financial donations.

In 2017, 88% of all donations went directly to work in our programs to offer friendship, help, and hope to our neighbors in need.

We live in an incredibly generous community! Beyond financial conations and gifts in kind, 423 committed volunteers gave us nearly 14,000 hours of their time worth $440,000!

We can't do this work without every one of you. Thank you for making our community a better place for every person.

2015 Annual Report

We celebrated our 10th Anniversary in 2015!

It's difficult to image how far we've come in ten years. It has only been possible through the generous support of our amazing community here in Monroe.

With only six part time staff, barely three full time equivalents, we rely upon nearly 300 volunteers who gave us over 11,000 hours of their time in 2015 to help us carry out our mission to offer friendship, help, and hope to our neighbors in need...of all ages.
